Lil Wayne explains why Drake isn’t loved in hip-hop

For a long time, the hip-hop business has struggled with colorism, which is the practice of discrimination based on skin color. Strong discussions have been sparked by this divisive issue, and prominent people like Lil Wayne have regularly found themselves in the center of them.

Lil Wayne recently discussed why he believes Drake gets a lot of flak from the hip-hop community in an interview with The Richard Sherman Podcast. Lil Wayne claims that Drake is “hated on” by certain members of the industry because of his fair skin tone. That’s simply the past of America,” Lil Wayne remarked.

I can tell because I don’t have light skin. I detested all guys in school with fair complexion. Thus, indeed, this is American history, dude.”

Lil Wayne served as Drake’s mentor, and the two have had a profound impact on the hip-hop world. His unique style of rapping and singing has revolutionized the genre. Drake has received criticism despite his success from some quarters, who claim he is too “soft” or “poppy” for the genre. The long-discussed matter of colorism in hip hop was brought to attention by Lil Wayne’s remarks.

Lil Wayne’s remarks imply that Drake has become a target of criticism despite the fact that some may contend that his light skin tone has aided him in the industry. Colorism is a complicated topic, and in order to resolve it, it is critical to have candid conversations about it.

Finally, Lil Wayne’s recent remarks on The Richard Sherman Podcast have clarified the colorism problem in hip-hop and the reasons behind Drake’s frequent criticism. Even though the problem is complicated, it’s critical to keep having candid conversations about it in order to develop a more fair and inclusive business that supports all artists.
