Michelle Pfeiffer Joins ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ at Apple TV+

Michelle Pfeiffer will star opposite Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman in the series, which is based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Rufi Thorpe. She’ll also be an executive producer on the project, which A24 is producing; David E. Kelley is adapting the novel and will serve as showrunner.

Pfeiffer’s casting is also notable because it will mark the first time she and Kelley, who have been married for more than 30 years, have worked together. The couple chose to keep their work and home lives separate, Pfeiffer has said in the past: In a 2022 Hollywood Reporter profile, she said she’d consider working with Kelley before quickly adding, “But I never want to risk damaging our relationship, which is a little sacred to me, and I think it’s a risk that you take if you work together.”

Margo’s Got Money Troubles, which A24 landed after a 2023 bidding war and subsequently took to Apple, stars Fanning as the title character. Per the show’s description, Margo is “the daughter of a Hooters waitress and former pro wrestler who, after having an affair with her junior college English professor, gets pregnant and turns to OnlyFans to make ends meet. After reuniting with her estranged father, who imparts advice he learned in the wrestling ring, Margo becomes a runaway success on OnlyFans.”

Pfeiffer will play Shayanne, Margo’s mother.

The series is the second high-profile TV project Pfeiffer has committed to recently. She’s also set to star in Yellowstone sequel The Madison.

Kelley will executive produce via his eponymous production company, along with Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward of Lewellen Pictures; Kidman and Per Saari of Blossom Films; Matthew Tinker of David E. Kelley Productions; Pfeiffer and Thorpe.

Pfeiffer’s recent credits also include Marvel’s Ant-Man movies, Showtime’s The First Lady and feature film French Exit, for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination. She is repped by CAA, Entertainment360 and Hirsch Wallerstein.
